Outlook

It's been another day with record warmth across Utah with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s across majority of the Wasatch Front. Some weather sites across the southeastern side of the Salt Lake Valley and in Utah county have been in the mid to upper 80s! A strong, dry cold front will slide into north and central Utah late tonight through Thursday morning and will drop highs 15-20 degrees into the mid 60s, mainly across northern Utah. We'll see an increase in clouds and wind, but we're not expecting precipitation with the frontal passage. If anything, tonight we could have some isolated pockets of virga or even a sprinkle or two ahead of the front in northern Utah. Southwest flow will return over the weekend, and will drive temperatures right back up to near record levels in the mid to upper 70s! Looking long-term, models show the chance for a pattern change next week. I've seen more agreement today on the chance for some unsettled weather between Tuesday the 31st to Thursday, April 2nd. There are a lot of different solutions in the models, especially in regards to timing and strength of these troughs, so we'll keep checking on it and keep our fingers crossed for some precipitation! - Devan Masciulli, KSL Weather 3.25.26
